About Trimetra
The training app that picks the right stimulus for you every week.
What is Trimetra?
Trimetra is a training platform for endurance athletes that brings load, recovery and goals together in a single plan. The name refers to three measures we keep permanently in balance: how much you train, how well you recover and what you are working towards. Trimetra picks the right stimulus every week — endurance, threshold, intervals or deliberate recovery — so you keep progressing without over- or undertraining.
Who it is for
Trimetra is built for runners, cyclists, walkers, swimmers, inline skaters and hybrid endurance athletes who want more than a static schedule. Whether you are just starting out, preparing a first 10 km, working towards a multi-day trek or training for a marathon, triathlon or gran fondo — the platform scales with your level and adapts to what you actually do and how you feel.
What Trimetra does
Adaptive weekly planning
Trimetra builds every week from build, quality and recovery days. Miss a session, fall ill or pick up extra load, and the plan shifts along automatically.
Load in balance
We keep computing your fatigue, fitness and freshness (acute load, built-up base and the difference between them), so your build-up stays controlled and load jumps stay visible.
Learns from what you actually do
After every session Trimetra compares what was planned with what you actually delivered. Thresholds, intensity and load in future weeks move along, so the plan fits your form better and better.
Ask the coach
Unsure about today? Ask your question in your own words — “my legs are sore, should I train?”, “slept badly”, “I feel strong” — and you get an answer from your own data, not from a generic article. What you report counts immediately: sore legs, illness or a short night adjust today’s plan straight away. Your question is recognised on your own device, and we do not keep its text.
Vitals & recovery
Heart-rate zones, resting heart rate, HRV, sleep and weight come together in one recovery picture. Is your recovery dropping? Then Trimetra favours endurance or rest over quality.
Record an activity
No watch to hand? Start your session in the app and Trimetra records time, distance and pace via GPS. A heart-rate strap or power meter connects straight over Bluetooth, and your planned session runs alongside as guidance: you see what you are doing now and what comes next, with a spoken cue and a beep at every block change. Pick a route from your library to go with it and you see and hear the turn cues along the way, with a heads-up as soon as you drift off the route. In the iOS app the recording keeps running in the background, so the screen can go off. After you stop, the entry is ready — top it up and save.
Built around your event
Enter your goal (10 km, half marathon, marathon, triathlon, gran fondo) and your goal date, and Trimetra places build, peak and taper blocks towards that date automatically. In the run-up to the race you also get a pacing plan for race day itself: pace bands per segment and fueling advice matched to the expected duration.
Environment & terrain
Hilly runs count fairly towards your load through terrain correction (grade-adjusted pace, GAP). For outdoor sessions Trimetra looks at the weather: warm days do not distort your fitness trend, in the heat you get extra drinking advice, and you can see how used to training in the warmth your body already is.
Climbs
Pick a climb from the catalogue — from the Cauberg and the Muur to Alpe d’Huez — and see your own time band right away: how many watts, how many W/kg and how long it takes you, relaxed, firm or all out. The projection uses physics on your power and your weight rather than a lookup table, and says honestly when a climb is not within reach yet and what is missing. You get the elevation profile, a pacing breakdown per kilometre and a what-if simulation for lighter or stronger. Make it your goal climb and Trimetra projects your time towards your goal date on your own measured power trend — bounded, and only when that trend is genuinely there.
Trimetra also recognises climbs in your own rides: ride a hill twice and it appears by itself with your own times and PR. So even without a catalogue climb nearby you can see where your hills are — with their name and place, and every attempt listed with its date and watts per kilo. And when several riders do the same hill, you see that spot as a suggestion in your own area.
Routes & route map
One button gives you a ready-made route for running, walking, cycling or inline skating that fits today's training, over the public road network from OpenStreetMap — and the roads you have actually ridden and run yourself count towards which route you get. You see the route on the map, save favourites in your own library and export them as a GPX file or straight to your bike computer.
Collecting game
Along the way you find items and reach milestones: an optional game that runs alongside the sessions you sync or record in the app. Some finds only show up in frost or heat, and on the market you trade what you have twice. It is on by default and can be switched off in your profile, under Extra features.
Swimming
Swim sessions have their own threshold (swim CSS) and include technique drills in the warm-up and main blocks. The app distinguishes pool and open-water swimming, so your calibration stays clean while open-water sessions still count towards your load.
Strength training with autoregulation
Switch on strength training and log weight, reps and RPE. Per exercise you get an estimated 1RM and advice for the next session that moves with how the previous one went — felt light means room to build, all out means hold or ease back.
Nutrition log
Optionally log your meals with the product search and follow your calorie intake and energy balance alongside your training load. With the tracker off, you see none of it.
Cycle tracking (opt-in)
Log your cycle start dates and see your cycle day and phase next to your training. Fully opt-in and only visible when it is relevant for your profile; the data stays yours.
Personal records
All your best marks in one place, per sport: best times at the standard distances, your longest and furthest session, your best average pace, the most elevation and your highest power per duration — from a one-second peak to a full hour. Every record shows the date and your top 3, so you can see whether a best mark is fresh or has stood for a while. Your highest weekly volume counts too, because consistency is just as much a record.
Notifications
Switch on push notifications and you get a daily training reminder, a notice when your plan has been adjusted based on your recovery, and an evening reminder if your check-in is still open. You turn each type on or off separately, at a time you choose.
Calendar subscription
Put your planned sessions in the calendar you already use — Google, Apple or Outlook. It is a subscription, not a one-off export: when your plan shifts, your calendar shifts with it. The feed contains only the session type, the duration and the execution band of your own plan; health data does not go into it. The link is personal, so keep it private.
Integrations
We pull in workouts, activities and vitals through connections with, among others, Strava, Wahoo, Withings, WHOOP, Suunto, Polar, COROS, Hammerhead, Apple Health (via the iOS app) and Health Connect (via the Android app). You stay in charge: you can activate or disconnect connections at any time, and data you bring in through an integration stays yours.
Insight & explanation
Every stimulus comes with an explanation: why did you get this session today, what does your freshness say, when does a recovery week make sense? Every metric and term is explained under Training terms.
How does it work?
- Create an account and go through a short intake (profile, goal, level).
- Connect your apps (Strava, Wahoo, Withings, WHOOP, Suunto, Polar, COROS, Hammerhead, Apple Health or Health Connect) or enter sessions manually. Planned sessions can be sent to your Wahoo or Hammerhead bike computer.
- Follow your weekly plan — Trimetra picks the right stimulus every day.
- Adjust on feel through RPE and feedback; the plan adapts to what you actually do.
- Work towards your goal — build, peak and taper are placed in time automatically.
You can use Trimetra in the browser or through the app for iOS and Android — in English, Dutch, German and French.
Security & privacy
Training data is sensitive, and we treat it that way. Your data is stored encrypted, we share nothing with third parties for advertising, and you keep full control at all times: you can revoke connections, empty your profile and delete your entire account permanently.
Read our Privacy statement for the details on which data we process, how long we keep it and what your rights are (GDPR).
Medical disclaimer
Trimetra is a tool for training planning and insight, not a medical device. The advice, zones and plans do not replace guidance from a sports physician, physiotherapist or GP. Feeling unwell, in pain or unsure about how much you can handle? Then stop training and consult a professional.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a wearable?
No. You can enter sessions manually, record them in the app itself via GPS, or sync them through a connection. A heart-rate strap or watch does make it more precise — especially for zones and recovery insight.
Which sports does Trimetra support?
Running, cycling, walking, swimming and inline skating, each with its own zones and thresholds — as a single sport or combined in hybrid blocks. Strength and mobility training can be added on top. Triathlon build-up is fully supported: set triathlon as your goal type and Trimetra combines swim, bike and run blocks in your weekly plan.
What does Trimetra do with my Strava activities?
We only pull the data we need for planning and analysis (duration, distance, heart rate, power, stream derivatives). You can disconnect at any time in your profile; withdrawn consent is processed automatically at Strava too (deauthorize).
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Through Profile → Settings → Delete account, your training and personal data is permanently deleted and the connections within Trimetra are ended.
Does Trimetra cost money?
For the first month you get everything. After that, recording, collecting finds and connecting stay free; the subscription covers what the app calculates for you — your training plan, your recovery, your thresholds and the coach. You can cancel at any time.
